Get the RIGHT version of WHMIS

Workplaces have hazards, and when the hazard is attributed to a chemical, WHMIS regulations apply, and workers must be educated and trained.

There two (2) sets of WHMIS regulations: WHMIS 1988 and WHMIS 2015.

A Quick way to tell a difference, is:

• WHMIS 1988 uses circular hazard symbols and an MSDS with detailed hazard information and precautions. 
• WHMIS 2015 uses diamond shaped pictograms (like symbols) and an SDS with detailed hazards and precautions information’s.

If you have only WHMIS 2015 labelled products, you could use the GHS WHMIS 2015.

If you only have any WHMIS 1988 labelled products you should use the WHMIS 2015 course which does include the GHS and training on WHMIS 1988 regulations.  

Once the WHMIS transition is over, Dec 2018, there will be no question about the version, everyone will take the new GHS WHMIS.
